Undergraduate students placed on academic probation after spring 2009

Important Note: These are instructions only for undergraduate probation students declared as majors in COMM, HCOM, or RTVF.

University records indicate that you are on academic probation after the spring 2009 semester. We would like to assure you that everyone within the Cal State Fullerton community wants you to be successful in overcoming this barrier; there are many services available to assist you with making academic success a reality.

Have questions about what academic probation means?

How do I receive the mandatory advising required to remove my probation registration hold?

(FYI: the probation advising hold appears as "College/Dept Advising Required" in your "HOLDS" box on your Student Center. It does not explicity state that it is a 'probation' advising hold, but it is.)

probation hold

Probation advising is required for the hold to be removed. There are different instructions for either "first time" or "continuing" probation students.

Instructions for first time probation students:

1. Sign up for a mandatory academic probation workshop. This 60 minute, in-person seminar will cover the nuts and bolts of academic probation, as well as a review of academic strategies needed for degree completion.

RSVP for one of the workshops (click here for workshop times) by e-maling your name, CWID, phone number, and date/time of the workshop to Linda Lui (llui@fullerton.edu) or register in person at CP 450 (College of Communications Dean's Office). Please register at least 24 hours in advance. Limited seats are available for each workshop; be sure to plan ahead.

2. Complete the online academic probation tutorial before attending the workshop. (Click here to begin the tutorial.) This information will be helpful to you prior to attending the in-person workshop. After you complete the online tutorial, you will be prompted to print a one-page worksheet. Print this worksheet and bring it with you to the worskhop, to verify you completed the online tutorial.

3. Print out your records and attend the probation advisement workshop. You are required to bring the following documents to the workshop:

  • A current, printed copy of your Titan Degree Audit. If you need instructions on how to access your Titan Degree Audit (TDA), click here.
  • A printed copy of your CSUF unofficial transcripts (the semester-by-semester view of your grades, available on your Student Center).

Your registration hold will be removed within approximately 24 hours of attending the workshop.

How do I learn more about what academic probation means?

If you are a first-time probation student, you will be completing the online probation tutorial and attending an information workshop (follow the advising instructions link above). If you are a continuing probation student, you may still have some questions, or need a refresher. The CSUF Academic Advisement Center (AAC) has lots of resources related to academic probation, GPA, and repeating courses.
