  • Persuasion and Argumentation
  • Intercultural Communication
  • Organizational Communication
  • Interpersonal Communication
  • Communication Studies (in this emphasis, you will have the opportunity to customize your emphasis coursework in consultation with a faculty advisor)

Minor in Speech Communication

All majors are able to declare this minor

  • It is a great complement to any major, especially communications and Radio-TV-Film. It will meet the "collateral requirement" for both majors.
  • You select 18 units of coursework in consultation with a faculty advisor.
  • If you choose HCOM 320, Intercultural Communication, it will double count as a minor course AND an upper-division GE social science/cultural diversity course (IIIB2 and V)!

Preparation for graduate work and subsequent careers in speech-language pathology or audiology, as well as preparation for careers in teaching.

No concentration or emphasis required, but students have the ability to choose electives in the major that will meet their needs (in areas including production, writing, programming, management, history/criticism, etc.).
