Biography

Mrs. Therese Cooper has an M.A. in Communication Disorders from Whittier College. She is a licensed and clinically certified speech language pathologist and holds a California state license. Her professional experience includes speech therapy positions in the psychiatric center at College Hospital of Cerritos, transitional living center/head injury program/vocational rehabilitation at Casa Colina Hospital in Pomona, various skilled nursing facilities and acute hospitals in Orange County, assisted living facilities, and private practice. In addition to being a professor at California State University, Fullerton, she is also currently providing speech therapy services for children, age 4 through 13, at a local private elementary school. She has extensive clinical experience with cognitive, speech and language development, cognitive deficits, neurological disorders, dysphagia and dementia. Her administrative experience has included serving as Director for a Casa Colina Hospital satellite facility, and supervisor for Clinical Fellowship Year therapists, clinic graduate students and undergraduate student interns. Therese began her association with CSUF in 2008 as a volunteer field supervisor for the adult advanced clinical practicum course. In 2012 she became a lecturer in the Communication Sciences and Disorders department with teaching experience that includes Neurology and Neurogenic Disorders, Anatomy and Physiology of Speech, Swallowing and Hearing, Voice and Craniofacial Disorders, Communication and Aging and Adult Clinic Supervision. Personally, Therese is married, has four children and is active in her church and wellness care communities.
