Biography

Lisa Erwin-Davidson, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, joined CSUF in the Fall of 2019 as an Assistant Professor in the department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Lisa Erwin-Davidson earned her Ph.D. at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While at UNC, Lisa Erwin-Davidson was research assistant on funded projects in the Center for Literacy & Disability Studies (CLDS). Dr. Erwin-Davidson developed her own research line from questions she had collected as a clinician working in the field of Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) and from questions that arose while working with the CLDS team at UNC. Her current line of inquiry focuses on how preschoolers with complex communication needs and concomitant sensorimotor impairments who require Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) develop and learn core concept words within the daily routines of their preschool environment. Prior to academia, Lisa Erwin-Davidson was an adjunct instructor at University of Vermont and clinical speech language pathologist in a variety of settings serving both adults and pediatric populations with developmental and acquired disabilities with complex communication needs.
