MAKE IT IN HOLLYWOOD

 

MARK VARGO ASC (Cinematographer, Director)

Mark Vargo received an Oscar Nomination for Special Visual Effects of Ghostbusters and works as a commercial director and cinematographer. His credits include over 30 feature films, including: as Director of Photography, Play it to the Bone;  as 2nd Unit Director, Stuart Little II, Tin Cup, Deep Impact; as 2nd Unit Director of Photography, The Patriot, The Green Mile, Outbreak; as Director of Effects, Optical Effects Cameraman or Visual Effects Supervisor, Waterworld, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi. He holds a BS in Production from Mo ntana State University.

 

KENNY GOLDE (Director/Writer/Producer)

Kenny Golde graduated from UC Berkeley in 1989. He Associate Produced the feature-length films Meet Wally Sparks starring Rodney Dangerfield; Keys to Tulsa starring Cameron Diaz, Eric Stoltz and James Spader; and co-wrote and produced Smokers starring Dominique Swain and Thora Birch, recently released on DVD by MGM Home Video. Kenny also writes and directs the Lifetime Television documentary series Intimate Portrait. His directing debut, Food for Thought , was one of just 18 short films purchased by HBO in 2001. Kenny recently published his first novel Apollo Main through Writer’s Weekly Books. He is prepping two feature films to direct in 2002, "The Job" and "Haunted Hearts."

 

JIN ISHIMOTO (Director/Writer/Producer)

Jin Ishimoto recently wrote and directed a digital feature-length film, Girl’s Best Friend, for Flixer.com. His short film, Candlesmoke, starring Susan Anspach (Five Easy Pieces & Blume in Love) was selected as one of the best films from USC for the Atom Films website. He wrote and directed The Hole, a short which premiered at Digidance 2000 and was chosen as the best film at the Telluride Indie Festival. One of the first High Definition short films ever made, it is currently playing on cinemanow.com. He was an associate producer of USA Network’s Combat Missions as well as a segment producer on shows that aired on BBC, VH-1, and MTV. He received an MFA from the Peter Stark Producing Program at USC in 1997.

 

FRED FONTANA (Producer/Writer)

Fred Fontana just produced Girl's Best Friend for Flixer Entertainment and has joined Chuck Gordon's team for the MGM film The Tree, set to lens in September. Fontana served as Associate Producer on the action space thriller Soldier starring Kurt Russell, under the Jerry Weintraub Productions banner. Fontana joined Weintraub's team on Pure Country.  His other films include The Next Karate Kid, The Specialist  and Vegas Vacation. At Universal Studios Fontana worked on Murder She Wrote, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Charles in Charge and Major Dad . Fontana also produced the award winning short subject film Reverence. Fontana has scripts in development and holds a degree in Communications from Loyola Marymount University.

 

DIANE AMBRUSO (Moderator)

Diane Ambruso teaches in the department of Radio-TV-Film at CSUF. She has produced, written and acted in two short films, been hired to write an epic feature film and won the Step Up screenwriting competition. She has optioned scripts and worked with the major studios as the Manager of Program Acquisition at DirecTV and ENCORE Media. She also works as a Story Analyst, often covering scripts with budgets over 30 million. She holds an MFA in film/tv-screenwriting from UCLA.
