The 2005 ASHA standards for the CCC-SLP focus more on educational outcomes instead of educational processes, which was the focus of earlier certification standards. The focus on outcomes ensures that each and every student achieves the knowledge-based and skill-based competencies that are necessary in order to become a competent professional. Graduates of the program must have achieved competencies in all the areas shown on the KASA Summary in order to earn the CCC-SLP.
