Professor Rimmer has been recently selected as the 2001 recipient of the William H. Taft Outstanding Advisor Award. Named in honor of Executive Director Emeritus Taft, the Outstanding Adviser Award recognizes advisers who have compiled long-term records of superior service and who have actively promoted scholarship in the field of mass communications.

Dr. Rimmer is recognized for his commitment to excellence in education, his reputation as a teacher and scholar, for his leadership and outstanding service to the KAPPA TAU ALPHA chapter at the CSUF, and as a regular delegate to the National Council. He joins a distinguished list of previous winners from across the country. A monetary award and plaque was presented to Professor Rimmer at the annual AEJMC-KTA Awards Luncheon on August 6 at the Grand Hyatt in Washington DC. Kappa Tau Alpha is the national mass communications honor society, recognizing students who place in the top ten percent of their class. The CSUF chapter has initiated 405 students since its founding in 1985. Forty-eight CSUF communications students were inducted in the Spring 2001 initiation ceremonies.
