Julia Prodis
Sulek is a general assignment/enterprise
reporter at the San Jose Mercury News. She specializes
in narrative storytelling for both breaking news and
feature stories.
In 2005, she and her colleagues were named finalists
in team deadline writing by the American Society of
Newspaper Editors for their coverage of the Scott
Peterson murder trial verdict.
In 1997, she was a Pulitzer finalist in feature
writing as well as an ASNE feature writing finalist
for stories about the aftermath of the Oklahoma City
bombing.
The 13th annual National Writers workshop, held Saturday,
April 29, is sponsored by California State
University, Fullerton’s College
of Communications, The Orange
County Register, and The Poynter Institute.
