All students, faculty, staff and community
members will be excited to see the excellent line
up of speakers and special events that are coming
to campus for this university-wide event.
Comm Week is a planned and implemented by a student
taskforce, this year 23, and guided by two faculty
advisors, Dennis Gaschen and Pamela Caldwell.
The backbone of the event is the tremendous encouragement
from faculty who provide speaker contacts and
offers their class time for the “Professor
of the Day” program. In addition, Peggy
Bockman, the assistant dean for student affairs
for Communications, works with the taskforce and
clubs and organizations on campus to develop a
number of exciting collaborations.
During the week of April 21-26 there is literally
something for everyone. Here are a few samples:
The internationally acclaimed photojournalist,
Tom Franklin, (Pulitzer nominee for the 911 flag
raising) will make a photo presentation.
A panel of Foreign Correspondents speaking on
the Iraq Invasion.
A Poetry Slam, with cash prizes for participants
will be hosted at the Off Campus Pub.
A Forensic Showcase will highlight the colleges
nationally recognized debate team.
A Career Focus day will provide up-to-the-minute
insight into getting that first job, how to dress
for success and even, being your own boss.
Alumni Mentor Luncheon pairs professionals with
our student leaders and Dean’s List recipients!
This is just a very small sampling. To find out
the real scoop checkout the website at http://communications.fullerton.edu/commweek.
There are daily additions and updates from now
until the event.
We hope to see you there.
