PUBLIC RELATIONS MAJOR WINS $2,500 HANLON SCHOLARSHIP

Kristen Rockwell, senior public relations student, was awarded the Thomas D. Hanlon Memorial Scholarship in Public Relations on Jan. 27 in Palm Springs. She received her award at a luncheon sponsored by the Palm Springs Desert Resorts Convention and Visitors Authority. This is the second year the scholarship was awarded to a CSUF student.
Kristen is this year’s president of the student chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America on campus. Last year she served on the board as the Director of Outreach. She currently works as a public relations coordinator at Gonzo Communications in Rancho Santa Margarita.Peggy Bockman, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, was pleased with the selection. She acknowledged that all the candidates were deserving but that Kristen was a great choice. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with her as a student leader of PRSSA, and she will represent us well,” Bockman said.
