The College of Communications provides high-quality
communications education to a large and diverse
group of students. Our theoretical and applied
programs focus on ethics, citizenship, intellectual
vigor and professional preparation.
With a strong tradition in the liberal arts
and social sciences, the academic programs of
the College share a common theoretical base
which identifies the elements of human communication
and the principles governing their use in all
communicative processes essential to contemporary
society, namely, the spoken and written word
and visual images.
Our program is one of the largest in the western
United States and one of the fourth largest
in the nation. We are near the center of one
of the biggest concentrations of mass media
in the world. Through our faculty, alumni and
extensive internship programs, we maintain contacts
with mass communications employers throughout
the region and the nation.
- Our ethnic diversity enrollment continues
to climb. For the third consecutive year, Cal
State Fullerton has moved up in the ranks of
the nation’s universities award in degrees
to ethnically diverse students, according to
a special report published this spring in Black
Issues in Higher Education.
- Student Services within the College include
outreach to potential applicants, new student
orientation, academic advisement, counseling
and referrals, and leadership development. The
Assistant Dean for Student Affairs seeks to
engage members of the University in the process
of student advocacy, community building and
collaborative learning – thus facilitating
student success.
I am only able to attend night classes
, and it was refreshing to have an overview
of everything (student newsletter) that is
happening in the College.
