Is there anyone who can help me map out the classes I need to take?

The Academic Advisement Center offers three main types of information:

1. General Education requirements and university policies and procedures

2. Referrals directing students to the proper academic department, the Office of Admissions and Records, and other university offices or services

3. Assist students who are on academic probation, or who have been disqualified from the university

Detailed advisement for students who have declared a major can be obtained at the department of their major. For more information, please visit the Academic Advisement Center at University Hall 179, or call (714) 278-3606.

Can I graduate in four years?

Yes. The University offers a Four-Year Graduation Pledge Program which provides specialized advisement to give students this opportunity if their employment and lifestyles are flexible enough to take courses when they are offered. More information can be found in the Academic Advisement Center in UH-179.

Where can I go to get information and registration materials for various testing programs that I am interested in taking?

The CSUF Center for Testing and Research administers a variety of standardized tests to evaluate student learning and development. The tests offered include those required for admission, placement and graduation. The Testing Center is located in University Hall 229.

As a freshman at CSUF, is there anyone who can help me get started in my college career?

The Fullerton First Year Program is for freshman students and its goal is to create an environment where all students have the opportunity and resources to succeed. Students participate in a genuine learning community with other freshman and dedicated faculty, student service professionals and peer mentors.

Does CSUF offer career planning for when I graduate?

The Career Planning and Placement Center offers information and services to assist undergraduates, graduate students, credential candidates and alumni with career planning and development. It also aids in placement based on individual talent, experiences, academic preparation and career goals. The Center is located in LH-208, and the phone number is (714) 278-3121.

Are there computer facilities available to all students?

Follow this link to find out more about computer facilities on campus. This web site provide detailed information about each lab. You must show a valid student ID to use these facilities. For more information, call (714) 278-3921.

The Student Union has a Computer and Typing Room containing IBM compatible PCs, Macs, laser printers and commercial quality typewriters. The lab is available for a nominal fee for all students. For more information, call (714) 278-7629.

In addition to these facilities are the College computer labs, located in the basement of College Park building. These facilities are available to College of Communications students only.

Are there any low income programs available to me at CSUF?

The Student Academic Services Center (SAS) coordinates a number of student programs, many emphasizing the educational needs of low income and disadvantaged students. SAS, located at UH-230, offers several scholarship programs as well. For more detailed information, call (714) 278-2484.

Is there anywhere I can go to get help in improving my writing skills?

The Writing Center located in the basement of McCarthy Hall, MH-45, provides tutorial assistance primarily for students enrolled in English Department writing classes. However, tutors will also assist students in writing papers for other university classes. While they do not proofread or edit papers, tutors do offer helpful suggestions designed to help the student master the techniques of proofreading and editing. They are also trained to help non-native speakers of English not only improve their writing skills, but also their speaking skills. For more information or to make an appointment, call (714) 278-3650.

What types of financial aid and scholarships are available for me?

Financial Aid can open new possibilities for you and help make your educational goals become a reality. Assistance is available from a variety of programs funded by federal, state, university and private sources. These can include grants, scholarships, loans and employment opportunities. The Office of Financial Aid will assist you with the application process and answer any questions regarding eligibility. You may check out the type of scholarships and awards available to College of Communications students here.
