The
Academic
Advisement Center offers three main types of information:
1.
General Education requirements and university policies
and procedures
2.
Referrals directing students to the proper academic
department, the Office
of Admissions and Records, and other university
offices or services
3.
Assist students who are on academic probation, or
who have been disqualified from the university
Detailed
advisement for students who have declared a major
can be obtained at the department of their major.

Can
I graduate in four years?
Yes.
The University offers a Four-Year Graduation Pledge
Program which provides specialized advisement to give
students this opportunity if their employment and
lifestyles are flexible enough to take courses when
they are offered. More information can be found in

Where
can I go to get information and registration materials
for various testing programs that I am interested
in taking?
The
CSUF Center
for Testing and Research administers a variety
of standardized tests to evaluate student learning
and development. The tests offered include those required
for admission, placement and graduation. The Testing
Center is located in University Hall 229.
As
a freshman at CSUF, is there anyone who can help me
get started in my college career?
The
Fullerton
First Year Program is for freshman
students and its goal is to create an environment
where all students have the opportunity and resources
to succeed. Students participate in a genuine learning
community with other freshman and dedicated faculty,
student service professionals and peer mentors.
Does
CSUF offer career planning for when I graduate?
The
Career Planning and Placement Center offers information
and services to assist undergraduates, graduate students,
credential candidates and alumni with career planning
and development. It also aids in placement based on
individual talent, experiences, academic preparation
and career goals. The Center is located in LH-208,

Are there computer facilities available
to all students?
Follow

The
Student Union has a Computer and Typing Room containing
IBM compatible PCs, Macs, laser printers and commercial
quality typewriters. The lab is available for a nominal
fee for all students. For more information, call (714)

In
addition to these facilities are
the College computer labs, located in the basement
of College Park building. These facilities are available
to College of Communications students only.
Are there any low income programs
available to me at CSUF?
The
Student Academic Services Center (SAS) coordinates
a number of student programs, many emphasizing the
educational needs of low income and disadvantaged
students. SAS, located at UH-230, offers several scholarship
programs as well. For more detailed information, call

Is there anywhere I can go to get
help in improving my writing skills?
The
Writing Center located in the basement of McCarthy
Hall, MH-45, provides tutorial assistance primarily
for students enrolled in English Department writing
classes. However, tutors will also assist students
in writing papers for other university classes. While
they do not proofread or edit papers, tutors do offer
helpful suggestions designed to help the student master
the techniques of proofreading and editing. They are
also trained to help non-native speakers of English
not only improve their writing skills, but also their

What
types of financial aid and scholarships are available
for me?
Financial
Aid can open new possibilities for you and help
make your educational goals become a reality. Assistance
is available from a variety of programs funded by
federal, state, university and private sources. These
can include grants, scholarships, loans and employment
opportunities. The Office of Financial Aid will assist
you with the application process and answer any questions
regarding eligibility. You may check out the type

a day. The Student
Affairs website also provides detailed information
on other resources and programs.
The
Student Information and Referral Center (SIRC) is
the result of a collaborative effort between the Dean
of Students and the Academic Advisement Center to
provide general campus information to all faculty,
staff and students. Located in UH-178, it is also
the new home for the Academic Advisement Center, the
Center for Careers in Teaching, and the Center for
New Student Programs. The office hours are Monday
through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Fridays
from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The phone number is (714)

Other
great resources for students are the Academic
Advisement Center, and the Center
for Careers in Teaching. The Academic Advisement
Center provides assistance with General Education
requirements, academic procedures and regulations,
undeclared student advising, undergraduate student

programs and prerequisites, majors best suited for
teaching credentials, and how to create an efficient
