These scholarships present a selection of those established through the generosity of alumni, faculty and community supporters to assist students in the completion of programs offered by the College of Communications. In addition, College of Communications majors and minors can apply for a wide range of scholarships and awards offered by a host of outside private organizations and professional societies. Please read all instructions for each scholarship and pay attention to the deadline, as well as details for required statements, letters of recommendation or other materials. There are variations in the application procedures and requirements for each scholarship. Incomplete and late applications will not be considered. 
Note: For all scholarships, the notification process does not include a notification to all applicants but only to the selected recipient of the scholarship. The expected date of notification is by the end of May.

Glyndon D. Riley Memorial Scholarship 

Amount: Two $2,000 Scholarships 
Established by: This award was established by Jeanna Riley in loving memory of her husband Glyndon D. Riley. Dr. Riley was a long-time professor in the Communicative Disorders program and was one of the founders of the Center for Children Who Stutter. Along with his wife, Jeanna, Glyndon created groundbreaking research on stuttering in children and adults. Much of the Riley’s work is still used today to diagnose and treat stuttering. This scholarship was created to continue Glyndon’s legacy and encourage professional interest in children who stutter.Open to: This scholarship is open to incoming or continuing students who are pursuing a master’s degree in Communicative Disorders at Cal State Fullerton. 
Criteria: Interest in children who stutter

Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY - FULLERTON SCHOLARSHIP & AWARD APPLICATION Academic Year 2025-2026; 2) Write a brief essay describing your professional interest in children who stutter and your overall career goals 3) Do not submit application until all required documents have been uploaded.

Michael R. Farinacci Family Scholarship 

Amount: $3,000 
Established by: The scholarship was established by Doris and Micheal Farinacci to support incoming or continuing COMD students who are pursuing a Master’s degree in Communicative Disorders at Cal State Fullerton and a career as a speech-language pathologist. 
Open to: This scholarship is open to incoming or continuing COMD students. 
Criteria: COMD students who are pursuing a Master’s degree in Communicative Disorders at Cal State Fullerton and plan to pursue a career helping adults with speech-language disorders. 
Application Procedure: 1) Log into your CSUF portal and click on the “Scholarships” app on the left hand side. Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY - FULLERTON SCHOLARSHIP & AWARD APPLICATION Academic Year 2025-2026; 2) Write a brief essay describing your overall career goals 3) Do not submit application until all required documents have been uploaded.

California Scottish Rite Foundation Scholarship 

Amount: Two $2,000 Scholarships 
Established by: This award was established by the California Scottish Rite Foundation to benefit Communicative Disorders graduate students who plan to pursue careers as speech-language pathologists and help children with speech-language disorders. The mission of the California Scottish Rite Foundation is dedicated to support and assist the children in California to develop their full potential by providing childhood language services, scholarships and other charitable programs. 
Open to: This scholarship is open to incoming or continuing students who are pursuing a master’s degree in Communicative Disorders at Cal State Fullerton. 
Criteria: Students who plan to pursue a career helping children with speech-language disorders 
Application Procedure: 1) Log into your CSUF portal and click on the “Scholarships” app on the left hand side. Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY - FULLERTON SCHOLARSHIP & AWARD APPLICATION Academic Year 2025-2026; 2) Write a brief essay describing your professional interest in becoming an SLP specializing in children and your overall career goals; and 4) Do not submit application until all required documents have been uploaded.

Pay-it-Forward Scholarship 

Amount: $1,000 
Established by: This award was established by Traci Terpstra, an alumna in the Communication Sciences and Disorders program, who found a passion to become a speech-language pathologist later in her career. This scholarship was created to provide support to students who plan to pursue careers as speech-language pathologists and help children with speech-language disorders. 
Open to: This scholarship is open to incoming or continuing students who are pursuing a master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Cal State Fullerton. 
Criteria: ● Students who plan to pursue a career helping children with speech-language disorders
● Students from underrepresented backgrounds who have had or are experiencing financial hardship
● Students who demonstrate financial need
● Submit a personal statementApplication

Procedure: 1) Log into your CSUF portal and click on the “Scholarships” app on the left hand side. Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY - FULLERTON SCHOLARSHIP & AWARD APPLICATION Academic Year 2025-2026; 2) Application must be accompanied by a personal statement (approximately 1,000 words) describing any hardship or challenges you have overcome; your financial need; your interest in becoming a speech-language pathologist specializing in children; and your overall career goals; and 3) Do not submit application until all required documents have been uploaded. 
Application Deadline: March 1 by 5pm

NSSLHA Member Scholarship 

Amount: $1,000 
Established by: This scholarship was created by the 2017 executive board of the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA) chapter at California State University, Fullerton to support students pursuing careers in communicative disorders. The NSSLHA chapter at California State University, Fullerton strives to provide cutting edge opportunities for students to supplement their education through service events, conferences, panels, social gatherings, and speaker events. 
Open to: This scholarship is open to undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students majoring in communicative disorders. You must be a registered member of the NSSLHA chapter at CSUF to apply. 
Criteria:

 Registered member of National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association chapter at California State University, Fullerton
 3.0 GPA or higher
 Submit a personal statement
 Students who demonstrate financial needApplication

Procedure: 1) Log into your CSUF portal and click on the “Scholarships” app on the left hand side. Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY - FULLERTON SCHOLARSHIP & AWARD APPLICATION Academic Year 2025-2026; 2) Submit a 1-2 page personal statement reflecting your achievements, goals, and volunteer/community involvement; 3) Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or if you currently receive financial aid, please attach a copy of your “award” that is available through TITAN Online on your Portal, for establishing financial need; and 4) Do not submit application until all required documents have been uploaded. 
Application Deadline: March 1 by 5pm 

Holly Anne Irvine and Terry Irvine Saenz Scholarship 

Amount: $1,000 
Established by: This scholarship was established by long-time faculty member in the Department of 
Communications Sciences and Disorders, Dr. Terry Irvine Saenz. Dr. Saenz advocated for multicultural 
curriculum and clinical practice to provide learning opportunities mirroring the diversity of cultures and 
languages in our world. The scholarship is named for Dr. Saenz and her sister Holly Anne Irvine who was 
a speech-language pathologist. 
Open to: This scholarship is open to students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate 
degree majoring in the Department of Communication Disorders at Cal State Fullerton. 
Applicants should be interested in a career as a speech-language pathologist or audiologist 
and have an interest in working with multicultural populations. 
Criteria: Full-Time Enrollment ♦ Good academic standing ♦ Financial Need ♦ Students should be interested in or have experience working with multicultural populations 
Application Procedure: 1) Log into your CSUF portal and click on the “Scholarships” app on the left hand side. Student Speech Therapists and Audiologists Nurturing Cultural 
Enrichment (STANCE) 

Amount: $1,000 

Established by: This scholarship was established by long-time faculty member in the Department of 
Communications Sciences and Disorders, Dr. Terry Irvine Saenz. Dr. Saenz advocated for multicultural 
curriculum and clinical practice to provide learning opportunities mirroring the diversity of cultures and 
languages in our world. The scholarship is named for Dr. Saenz and her sister Holly Anne Irvine who was 
a speech-language pathologist. 
Open to: This scholarship is open to students who (1) is an undergraduate or post- 
baccalaureate student majoring in communicative disorders, and (2) shows demonstrated 
financial need. 
Criteria: Undergraduate or post-baccalaureate student majoring in communicative disorders ♦ shows demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to students who are actively engaged in multiculturalism efforts within the community 
Application Procedure: 1) Visit the Scholarship page (it will first take you to your CSUF portal 
login); 2) Log into your CSUF portal and it will open the Scholarship page. Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the Scholarship Application; 3) Do not submit application until all required documents have been uploaded.

Titan Shops/Titan Bookstore Scholarship

Amount: $500 (two awards, dependent upon funding) 
Established by: These scholarships are donated by the Titan Requisition Rewards Program of 
Titan Shops/Titan Bookstore.  
Open to: This scholarship is open to continuing communication sciences and disorders majors 
who are pursuing an undergraduate degree. 
Criteria: Good academic standing ♦ Submit a personal statement ♦ Students who demonstrate financial need 
Application Procedure: 1) Log into your CSUF portal and click on the “Scholarships” app on the left hand side. Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY - FULLERTON SCHOLARSHIP & AWARD APPLICATION Academic Year 2025-2026; 2) Provide a letter of recommendation from a faculty member or professional reference; 3) If you currently receive financial aid, please attach a copy of your “award” that is available through TITAN Online on your Portal; and 4) Do not submit application until all required documents have been uploaded.

Jim & Rose Lloyd Scholarship 

Amount: $1,000 
Established by: This scholarship was established by Jim and Rose Marie Lloyd in their legacy. Rose received her master’s degree in Speech Pathology and became a special education teacher. Rose lost her hearing at 26 years old, and the couple created this scholarship to support undergraduate students with hearing impairments in her honor. Open to: This scholarship is open to students pursuing an undergraduate degree in the Department of Communication Disorders at Cal State Fullerton. Applicants should be interested in pursuing a career as a speech-language pathologist or audiologist. Preference will be given to students with hearing- impairments. 
Criteria: Full-Time Undergraduate Enrollment ♦ Good Academic Standing ♦ Financial Need
