Candis Tate

My name is Candis Tate, and I was born in Inglewood, California. My educational journey has been very interesting; after tenth grade I was accepted into a middle college program where I no longer attended classes at high school, but at my local community college. After graduating high school, I attended Fresno State University where I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Rhetorical Communication and Africana Studies. During my time at Fresno State, I made one of the best decisions of my life -- which was to study abroad in Madrid, Spain. Studying abroad expanded my understanding and, in turn, my definition of rhetorical, and intercultural communication. Immediately after obtaining my bachelor’s degree, I attended Wake Forest University to obtain an MA in Communication-Rhetoric. Studying at Wake Forest confirmed for me, that I wanted to teach in the field of human communication, but also that I wanted to teach abroad. So shortly after graduating, I obtained my TEFL certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), and bought a one way ticket to Alicante, Spain. My interest in traveling internationally has allowed me to travels to a host of countries including Panama, Israel, and Amsterdam and I hope to teach in many of them some day.
