Dr. Doug Swanson, an accredited public relations practitioner, teacher, and consultant, earned his doctorate at Oklahoma State University, and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Eastern New Mexico University. He took his first media job at age 11 and later labored in radio, TV, print journalism and in PR.
Dr. Swanson has published numerous absorbing but mostly unnoticed book chapters and journal articles, and presented a variety of fascinating but sparsely attended conference presentations. Much of this work lives in obscurity on the Internet. Skilled in diverse trades, Dr. Swanson is a ‘has been’ truck driver, door-to-door salesman, janitor, and paddlewheel steamboat deckhand. An avid traveler, he has visited all 50 states, many of them in an overloaded RV. He agrees with Art Buchwald’s observation, “the best things in life aren’t things.”
