Diane Collins, MA, CCC-SLP, graduated from California State University, Fullerton with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Speech Communications. She practiced as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the public school system for 38 years, retiring in June, 2016. Effective January, 2017, Ms. Collins joined the staff at California State University, Fullerton, as a part-time clinic supervisor in the Speech and Hearing Clinic.
Ms. Collins has been a member of various organizations. She facilitated the West End Special Education Local Planning Area (WESELPA) Speech-Language Pathology Council which is composed of nine school districts. She is currently on the Region 10 Speech-Language Pathologists’ Subcommittee, as well as, a member of the Healthy Start Collaborative and Medi-Cal Committees for the Upland Unified School District. She has also been very involved with the National Stuttering Association.
Ms. Collins, who was the 2009-2011 State President for the California Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CSHA), has served in numerous roles within the CSHA organization. She was a District Director for San Bernardino, Riverside and Inyo Counties, chaired the State Honors Committee, and now chairs the State Nominating Committee. Ms. Collins received both the CSHA Fellows and Honors of the Association awards.
Ms. Collins is also actively involved with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She was previously a member of the ASHA Legislative Council, and is now in her second term as a representative of the ASHA Speech-Language Pathology Advisory Council, working to promote legislation that will benefit those who provide and/or receive speech-language pathology and/or audiology services.
