Jose Campos Class of 2014

Where do you currently work, and what is your job title?

I’m currently working at NBC5 and Telemundo 39 Dallas-Forth Worth as a Bilingual Digital Producer. I am the only one that is holding this new position within the stations.

What do you think helped you land this position?

I completed multiple internships, including MundoFox Los Angeles, The Luca Group (a radio and TV production company), and hosted a weekly Spanish radio program on CSUF’s Titan Radio. Then, I continued my career with NBC Universal as an intern for Telemundo 52 Los Angeles. While finishing up my internship, I was hired as the only digital producer for Telemundo Arizona, where I managed the station’s website and social media platforms. I also became a digital reporter for Telemundo Arizona where I started presenting news and my very own technology segment. I was in Telemundo Arizona for three years before moving to Texas.

What has been your proudest accomplishment so far?

I’ve been a 3-time Emmy Award Winning Journalist and I have also received the Communications Award for online-interactive social media video.

How did LCI prepare you for what you are doing today, or how did it help shape your career?

LCI was at the beginning stage when I was close to graduating. However, this was not an issue for the program to start connecting me with people in the industry. Since the beginning LCI has a lot to offer. Now it is a  great way to connect with students, even as a professional I know that if I need any help LCI is always there to support. The most rewarding experience is being able to go back and share experiences along with helping students.

What advice would you give current students or recent graduates in pursuing a career in your professional field?

Do what you love and enjoy what you do. Follow your dreams and never lose your focus. You should always be where you feel happy.
