I am an assistant professor of communications here at CSUF. I am from Washington DC, where I graduated from a high school for the performing arts. I went to college at Yale University and had to make a quick adjustment to being a minority on campus. I majored in Political Science, thinking I would become a diplomat! I had several jobs after college and went back to grad school for a masters and later a PhD. I have studied abroad in Brazil and a few other countries and highly recommend everyone to consider a program abroad. I especially like to help students figure out how to find resources on campus, and how navigate career decisions & best prepare their applications for internships and jobs.

I have been leading the internship program for the Department of Communications at Cal State Fullerton since 2016. Immediately prior, I worked in the CSU Chancellor’s Office overseeing the media internship program for the 23-campus CSU Entertainment Alliance. I teach COMM 495T, a High Impact Practice course that integrates theory with practice through a 120-hour supervised field experience. My career has navigated many disciplines and industries, and I am eager to share that perspective with students as they plan for the future. After undergrad, I spent 10 years in business development and pharmaceutical sales with Procter & Gamble, taught within the Long Beach Unified School District, and served as the managing director of Rising TIDE, a nonprofit after school education center. In 2011 I added entrepreneur to my resume by opening Bliss 525, a restaurant, event space and live music venue in Long Beach, CA. Through this venture I had the opportunity to impact every aspect of the business including operations, marketing, public relations, event planning, training and development. It was truly an exciting experience where I was writing menu copy one minute and planning weddings the next. I look forward to drawing from these experiences to equip CSUF students with the tools to thrive in a constantly changing workforce.

I'm a graduate student pursuing the Mass Communications Research and Theory track. I received my associates in journalism from Fullerton College in fall 2020 and my bachelor's in communications-journalism from CSUF in fall 2022. One of my passions is advocating for my communities and even being a voice for other communities that are not heard often. I'm excited to get to know everyone in BCU and create some fun events. Don't hesitate to reach out for anything!
