Students from the Tzu-Chi University in Taiwan visited CSUF.
Nine students in various majors from Tzu-Chi University in Taiwan arrived at CSUF on February 11, Sunday afternoon. Eleven Communication Sciences and Disorders (COMD) student volunteers welcomed them at the Speech and Hearing Clinic. Dr. Tsao, who invited them, and the COMD department chair, Dr. Seung, joined the welcoming. These students experienced American college classes on our campus and American culture. Our students experienced coaching Taiwanese students about pragmatics, articulatory phonetics, and speech and intonation. During this process, the students learned about Taiwanese culture. The visitors concluded their experiences in 11 days at a two-hour debriefing session that began with remarks from the Dean, Associate Dean, Director of the Maxwell center, Terry Saenz and HyeKyeung Seung on February 21, 2018. Dr. Tsao has been instrumental in connecting COMD students at CSUF to the Tzu-Chi Foundation located in San Dimas and Tzu-Chi University in Taiwan.
Eleven COMD undergraduate, gradaute, and alumni welcomed Tzu-Chi visitors by singing Tzu-Chi song in sign language.
