Dr. Lisa Erwin-Davidson, assistant professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD), is the best choice for the Faculty Recognition Award. Lisa consistently and enthusiastically devotes daily time to student mentoring and research project advisement. From Honor’s projects to independent study projects, CSD students reported transformative learning experiences under her mentorship. One student shared, [Dr. Davidson] “has a gift for instilling confidence in her students” and “knows how to meet an individual where they are and challenge them because she sees their potential.” Lisa inspired CSD undergraduates to move forward with developing the first-ever Augmentative-Alternative Communication (AAC) student club. To date, over 60 AAC Club members have elevated and forwarded the neurodivergent voices of individuals who require assistive technology to communicate. Lisa creates community volunteer opportunities serving nonspeaking children and adults and inspires meaningful project contributions from 10-45 CSD students in a semester on research and service projects.
