Russell Johnston earned his Ph. D. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Kansas in 2019. Prior to the Ph. D., Russell Johnston earned his B.A. in Communication Disorders in 2012 from California State University, Los Angeles and his M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Kansas in 2014. Before entering academia, he worked as a school-based speech-language pathologist. His research interests relate to language acquisition in children with complex communication needs who use augmentative and alternative forms of communication, educational programming for students with significant disabilities, and inclusive education for all students, including those with significant disabilities.
