DT has 10 finalists in LA Press Club A&E national journalism awards

The Daily Titan had ten staff members named as finalists in Los Angeles Press Club A&E national journalism awards.  The contest, which had a record number of submissions this year, aims to reflect the journalism industry's natural marriage of entertainment and arts coverage.

The ten finalists were spread across five categories. Individually, Brian Alvarado earned five finalist recognitions, including three for "best arts or entertainment feature" and two for "best arts or entertainment photo."  The Daily Titan placed three finalists in "best arts or entertainement feature," "best are or entertainement photo" and two finalists in "best arts or entertainment profile." Overall, the Daily Titan made up ten of the 22 total finalists in the college division.

"To see that the Daily Titan grab 10 of 22 possible nominations in collegiate categories is an incredible honor, as is seeing one of my own reviews nominated," says Harrison Faigen, who was named as a finalist for his commentary on Avengers: Infinity War. As soon as got done watching the Marvel Entertainment blockbuster, he wrote the story at 3 a.m. and filed it at 4 a.m. "Everyone at the paper worked incredibly hard last year and this goes a long way towards justifying all those sleepless nights we put in. I also want to say that this is all a testament to how filled with talent that staff was from top to bottom, because this type of recognition wouldn't have been possible without a total team effort, from editors to writers and more."

The awards gala will be held on December 2nd, where winners will be announced. Below is a complete list of Daily Titan finalists in the college division.
