SPJ hosts Washington Post Editor for Q & A session

SPJ hosts Washington Reporter for Q&A session

The CSU Fullerton chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists hosted Washington Post Editor Gene Park for a speaking event and Q&A session Wednesday night at the Titan Student Union. Park got his B.A. in Communications at CSUF and currently serves as the Audience Editor for the Washington Post embedded with the Opinions desk. Park aslo held reporting positions in the West Coast and Pacific regions.

"I thought the event went really well," says CSUF SPJ president Harrison Faigen. "Gene is an incredible exampled of exactly the type of journalist with unique skills that SPJ wants to bring to campus to help teach students specific skills to help them succeed in the professional ranks, and he was incredibly generous with his time in staying on the line to answer questions for 20 minutes longer than I initially asked him to speak for. There is no one more qualified to teach CSUF students about the value of being able to use Reddit and other social media platforms than Gene, and we're just lucky he is a Titan."

Park chatted with the students from his office at the Washington Post in Washington D.C. via Skype. The veteran journalist is also active within the Asian American Journalist Association.
