Cynthia King, Ph.D. is a Professor of Communications at California State University, Fullerton. Her published research focuses on emerging trends and effects of entertainment and commercial media with particular interests in humor, emotion and social cognitive theory. She has also published in the areas of new media ethics and relationships between communications pedagogy and practices. She is co-author of the text, Entertainment and Society: Influences, Impacts and Trends with Dr. Shay Sayre. She earned her Ph.D. in Mass Communication University of Alabama and a Master’s Degree in Political Science from Florida State University.
King teaches courses in communication theory and effects, research methods, entertainment and tourism and public relations. She developed the department’s Entertainment and Tourism concentration and is active in the department’s graduate program. Her professional background includes experience in audience and market research, corporate public relations and integrated marketing communication. Notable clients include Nickelodeon Television, Tuscaloosa Steel Corporation, Apple Computer, Arts Orange County and the Orange County Tourism Council.
She is a past president of the International Association of Communication, Orange County and has served on advisory boards for The Orange County Tourism Council, The Newport Beach Film Festival, the Orange County, Safety and Security Council and the Orange County Chapter of the Red Cross.
