Professors Chelsea Reynolds and Tara Suwinyattichaiporn hosted an educational Q&A panel during Comm Week - “Let’s Talk About Sex.”

Suwinyattichaiporn is an HCOM professor who is also a relationship coach. She does quantitative research that is focused on long-term sexual pleasure. Reynolds is an HCOM and COMM professor and is also the advisor of Tusk Magazine. She’s a journalist who focuses her research on sexual representation within LGBTQ+ communities.

Reynolds has reported about sex in publications like The Washington Post and The Guardian, and conducted research published in Journal of Magazine Media, Media Report to Women, Journal of Sex Research and others.

The panel was an open and safe space to talk about queer identities, sex, and relationship issues. Suwinyattichaiporn and Reynolds talked about how to have successful, long-term relationships through communication. Having open, sexual communication results in healthy relationships because both people can be on the same level of understanding.

Suwinyattichaiporn explained that the levels to a successful, romantic relationship are good self-esteem, sexual mindfulness, sexual confidence, and open-mindedness.
