On Wednesday, October 12th, Black CommUnity held its first Soul Food Game Night. The event brought Black students in communications together to play games, have fun, eat, and watch movies. It was also a celebration for those who finished their midterms and was a place for those still studying to take a break and relax.
While the Disney movie “Soul” played in the background, students were treated to nostalgic soul food like fried chicken, mac and cheese, and cornbread that was catered by Pig n Pig, a local southern barbeque restaurant.
Students got to play card games like Black Card Revoked, Spoons, and Uno. Two giveaways were offered to the students who RSVP’d for the event, where winners received CSUF merch like a keychain and a car license plate frame. While Black CommUnity doesn’t currently plan to host another Soul Food Game Night, they said they would plan another one if students are interested.
