The AdClub at Cal State University, Fullerton hosted AdCon 2024, an inspirational event that brought together aspiring advertising professionals with seasoned bed tours for an evening of networking, learning and inspiration.
During the 6:30 p.m. panel, students had the unique opportunity to meet with a mentor in a speed date style. Students could sign up for each speaker they wanted to speak with individually and had 10 minutes to ask any questions they'd like. There were 12 mentors to choose from, each with distinct backgrounds and expertise in the advertising industry, offering valuable insights to eager students.
Among these amazing mentors was Catherine Gudvangen, a seasoned veteran with over 25 years of experience in the beauty fitness and houseware sectors of advertising. Gudvangen has expertise in her career working as a key producer for brand campaigns for industry Giants such as Nestle, Keurig, L'Oreal and Conair. This speaks volumes about her creative expertise.
As Gudvangen shared her wealth of knowledge and experience, students felt inspired.
“I specifically signed up to meet with Catherine because I am interested in the beauty industry when it comes to advertising. To be a part of a club that directly connects me with professionals from the industry I want to go in makes me so happy. I'm appreciative of this opportunity.” said Devyne Prior, an AdClub student.
Beyond the enriching panel discussion, AdClub announced the event's new board for the 2024/2025 semester. As the incoming board members were announced, the room was filled with excitement and encouragement. As the event drew to a close, attendees left with renewed purpose and enthusiasm, armed with newfound knowledge and insights shared by esteemed panelists.
