On Mar. 9, the Cal State Fullerton student-run newspaper, Daily Titan, held its Daily Titan Festival in CSUF’s Central Quad. Around 1,000 people are estimated to have shown up for the event, which takes place once a semester.

The Daily Titan advertising team and Professor Michelle Kurland’s COMM 454 class assembled the Daily Titan Festival. Daily Titan’s clients use this opportunity to better connect with CSUF students by offering promotional giveaways and demonstrations of their services. This event is also a chance for students to find new local businesses to support.

Stamp cards that required a stamp from all 17 vendors were available to those who attended the event. Once completed, attendees were entered into a raffle. After turning in the stamp cards, students were allowed to spin a prize wheel, including Daily Titan merchandise like pens, highlighters, notepads, lip balms, stress balls and other fun and useful items.

For the raffle, the grand prize included two tickets to Universal Studios, provided by Daily Titan’s client, NBC Universal. Other grand prizes included gift cards, vouchers and merchandise.

Many vendors in attendance gave out free items; for example, 562 Flea Market gave free tote bags with designs to anyone who wanted one. Daily Titan’s food-based clients Nick the Greek, 7 Leaves, Raising Cane’s, Cars and Coffee and Fraise Cafe gave out free food samples.

Daily Titan always wants to work with businesses that want to connect with CSUF students. Students may see new companies set up as vendors at next semester’s Daily Titan Festival.

Undergraduate and graduate students of any major or background can get involved with the Daily Titan newspaper. On the Daily Titan website, students can find information on how to apply for multiple positions, including editorial, advertising, sales, marketing and graphic design.
