Alexis Flores graduated from Cal State Fullerton in 2020 with an emphasis in Entertainment and Tourism. His journey at CSUF impacted his current role as a Social Media and Influencer Relations Manager at Casanova//McCann with a demonstration of resilience, networking and determination.
As a transfer student, Flores initially faced financial difficulties, leading him to spend his second year at a community college; fortunately, after some financial stability, he returned to CSUF to complete his bachelor's degree. Despite this challenge, Flores embraced his journey and utilized his experiences to fuel his determination to succeed. Networking played a pivotal role in Alexis's career trajectory. Attending a CSUF Alumni signature event, 'Dinner with 12 Titans,' allowed him to connect with industry professionals, including the CEO of the current agency he’s employed. This initial encounter evolved into a mentorship, offering him invaluable guidance and support.
Throughout his time at CSUF, Flores actively participated in various clubs and organizations, totaling approximately 14 memberships. While not all directly aligned with his current industry, these affiliations provided him with valuable skills, advice, and meaningful relationships that continue to contribute to his success today. One of his proudest accomplishments was securing a job while hospitalized after breaking his leg. This experience reinforced his dedication, problem-solving skills, and resilience, highlighting his ability to overcome challenges with a solution-focused mentality.
Latino Communications Instituto (LCI) played a transformative role in shaping Flores’s career. As a first-generation Latino, LCI provided him with access to invaluable resources, workshops, and networking opportunities. The supportive community within LCI empowered Alexis to navigate the complexities of the professional world and equipped him with the skills and confidence needed to thrive. Reflecting on his journey, Alexis offers multifaceted advice to aspiring professionals. He emphasizes the importance of gaining practical experience, networking, resilience, and prioritizing mental health. He encourages individuals to follow their passions and dreams, maintaining a balance of work and personal fulfillment.
