Cal State Fullerton’s communications class, Event Planning and Management, hosted the second annual Garden Flea Market on Thursday, Apr. 18, at the Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Admission to the event was free, attracting a diverse crowd of students eager to explore the offerings of their peers and enjoy a day of art, entertainment and community. “Arts at the Arboretum” showcased a vibrant array of student-run small businesses offering pottery, jewelry, art, clothing, baked goods, flowers, food and drinks.

The Garden Flea Market provided a platform for student entrepreneurs and delighted attendees with live entertainment. Music from Titan Radio filled the air, complemented by lively performances from talented student entertainers. Students had the opportunity to connect with others priced possession of other students.

The first attendees were treated to complimentary food from Baby’s Burgers, while other refreshments were available for purchase throughout the event. For example, free energy drinks were provided at the entrance of the event and 7 Leaves provided samples for students.

Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in exciting opportunity drawings, with prizes generously provided by the Communications class. The success of the Garden Flea Market highlights the talent and creativity thriving within the CSUF community. Through events like these, students are provided with invaluable opportunities to showcase their skills, support one another, and contribute to the vibrant campus culture.

Dr. Jasmine Phillips, professor for the Event Planning and Management class, said she was so glad to see this year’s flea market bigger and she loves the students' work. All she ever hopes is for good weather for the spring flea market, and so far they have been lucky with good weather.

Phillips said the class is a great hands-on experience for students to learn how to work together and communicate in a large group when planning a large event.
