Christian Reed Seiter (Ph.D., George Mason University) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Communication Studies at California State University, Fullerton. Dr. Seiter has taught courses in health communication, interpersonal communication, and persuasion, among others.
Dr. Seiter’s research concerns communication in the end-of-life context. Specifically, his mixed-methods work examines use of novel message strategies (e.g., humor, worry) to motivate discussion of end-of-life wishes within families. Dr. Seiter also studies spiritual communication and social support in health contexts. Dr. Seiter is a trained actor (B.F.A., University of Utah) and uses his theatre background to develop and evaluate communication workshops and classroom activities. His scholarly work can be found in journals such as Health Communication, The Journal of Health Communication, and Communication Teacher.
Outside of work, he enjoys watching horror movies with his wife, playing tennis, and eating gourmet hot sauces.
